Barnsley boss Keith Hill has expressed his delight at his side's 3-0 victory at Victoria Park over Hartlepool United, as part of the Championship club's pre-season friendlies.
A goal from Reuben Noble-Lazarus and a brace from Danny Haynes were enough to give the Tykes a comfortable away victory against the League One outfit.
Barnsley struggled in the Championship last season, after they finished in 17th place in a table, despite showing that on their day they could beat any side, especially in front of an Oakwell crowd.
Signs for the upcoming campaign look far more promising and Hill was pleased with the run out and the performance his players showed at Victoria Park.
He told the club's official website: "I'm happy with the clean sheet, really happy.
"We've got to work on our defensive strategy, in possession and out of possession.
"I'm really pleased with the performance of the player."
With the build up to the season going well, Barnsley will have one eye on their opening game of the Championship campaign, when they make the short trip south to face Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. Those following the Championship betting odds will be keeping a close eye on how the side gets on.
Forest will be one of the main contenders to secure promotion to the Premier League under their newly appointment manager and former England boss Steve McLaren, who has returned to England after spells with Wolfsburg and FC Twente. Fans of FA Cup betting will also be wondering if they can go on something of a run.
The Tykes could not have much of a tougher start to the Championship but with results and performances like the one against Hartlepool, they will go there full of confidence of causing an upset.
